~PRIVATE ~ HOME ~ DAYCARE~

                      Private Home Daycare

Thank you for taking this time to view my website.  I hope you will find it informative in your search for a suitable childcare space for your child.  This is something I didn’t have available while I was in your position.

I am all too familiar with the anxiety associated with just thinking of returning to work after maternity leave.  Not knowing where to even start when searching through piles of listings, or knowing what to ask, what is a reasonable fee to pay & what is included in that fee.

Allow me to introduce you to Huggie Bears Private Home Daycare. As a mother, I know the difficulties associated with trying to find suitable childcare options for your child. Finding one that allows you to feel secure in your decision to return to work, while knowing your child is safe, happy & well cared for in your absence is one of the most stressful tasks we have as a parent!

My name is Shirley Richards, I am the proud mother of three young adults. After the birth of my second child, I made the choice not to return to work within the medical field opting to become a stay at home mom. Hence, my home daycare was born.
I take pride in managing my home daycare with many of the same guidelines set out within the Daycare Nurseries Act, which is strictly enforced by the Ministry of Education, Early Years Division. By adhering to these policies, it allows parents the comfort of a home-based daycare with the guidelines of a traditional daycare setting.

One guideline which is strictly enforced by the Ministry, is the number of children cared for.  Did you know that a home daycare provider may only care for 5 children under the age of thirteen?  Of which, no more than 3 may be under the age of 2.  The only exception to this is if a home daycare provider is Licensed through the Government.  They may then care for 6 children, but the rules and ages still apply.

**PLEASE NOTE**

"THIS CHILDCARE PROGRAM IS NOT LICENSED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF ONTARIO"**

Childcare fees in Toronto are still among the highest in Canada.  Typically, an infant spot (under 18 months old) in a childcare centre is approximately $1685/month that is $20,200 a year!  For a preschooler (2 ½ to 4) it is about $1150/month that is slightly lower at $13,800 a year. This is one of the many reasons’ parents look at home based childcare as an option. My fees are currently set to be an affordable alternative to the sky rocketing cost of the larger daycare centres.
